REGISTER TO ATTEND THE CONVERGENCE 2018, WOMEN SUPPORTING WOMEN, WITH THE THEME: HOW WOMEN CAN WIN ELECTIONS IN A MALE DOMINATED SOCIETY
In Nigeria women constitute an expansive block of the electorate, for example in the 2015 general elections, 45,888,984 registered voters were women, while 22,944,984 were men. Despite being the larger block of the electorate, women occupy less than 7 percent of positions in government (elective and appointive) in the country.
THE CONVERGENCE is an event which aims to double the percentage of women in political and elective office from 7% to 14% in 2019 by bringing together female aspirants and female mobilisers for an intensive 2 days workshop on how to effectively participate in politics. The idea is to learn from those who have practical experience in contesting and winning elections as women in Nigeria and Africa.
